The Note is a typical Hallmark movie that will appeal to anyone who loves a good love story. It is the very emotional story of Peyton MacGruder (Genie Francis) who has been through a few tragedies in her life, currently works as a writer for a local newspaper, and is on the verge of losing her column if she doesn't find a way to capture a loyal readership. In the middle of her dilemma, a tragic plane crash occurs and she finds a note (from the crash) that not only lands a story right in her lap, it also acts as a "star" that led her back to the daughter she gave up for adoption several years ago. Her search for the intended recipient of the note led her to several prospects - all of whom were deeply touched by the note and supposedly given a second chance to right a wrong. Of course, during her journey, she gets closer to a male co-worker (Ted McGinley) and they fall in love.

A writer goes on a quest to bring a special Christmas gift to a relative of a plane crash victim, but it's no easy feat as she realizes the odds of finding the right person are huge. She travels far and wide, with a famous reporter hot on her heels, as she looks for clues and evidence.

Even though the note was not meant for every likely candidate, it brought her full circle to a very special Christmas gift of her own - one she could not have dreamed of.
